KEPCo Endorses Alliance

The Kansas Electric Power Cooperative, Inc. (KEPCo) Board of Trustees voted unanimously at its December meeting to endorse the national 25X’25 renewable energy alliance (www.25×25.org).

The goal of the alliance is to develop technologies and fuels that will allow America’s farms, ranches and forests to provide 25 percent of the total energy consumed in the United States by 2025, while continuing to produce safe, abundant and affordable food, feed and fiber.

“Reducing our dependence on foreign oil through the development of alternative fuels and the development of new technologies for energy production are two of the most important tasks our nation faces. KEPCo and its Member Cooperatives are proud to support an alliance such as 25X’25. This alliance is committed to the development of technologies through renewable resources, which not only will benefit the nation as a whole, but will also directly impact the rural economy of Kansas,” said Steve Parr, KEPCo Executive Vice President & CEO.

By endorsing 25x’25, KEPCo has joined a broad alliance of organizations, elected officials, and individuals committed to the goal of deriving 25 percent of America’s energy from renewable resources by 2025. KEPCo has committed its resources and leadership to show the political support needed to achieve the goal of 25x’25.

25x’25 is supported financially by the Energy Future Coalition, a nonpartisan public policy initiative funded by foundations and is directed by a committee composed of volunteer leaders from the agricultural, forestry and renewable energy communities.
