KEPCo is one of three owners of the Wolf Creek Generating Station.  Wolf Creek Nuclear Operating Corporation (WCNOC) was organized on April 14, 1986, to operate, maintain, repair and eventually decommission the Wolf Creek Generating Station.  The Wolf Creek site is located near Burlington, Kansas on 10,500 acres.
KEPCo is one of four owners of the Iatan 2 Generating Plant located at the Iatan Generating Station in Platte County, Missouri.  Iatan 2 is an 850 MW high-efficiency, coal-fired power plant with state-of-the-art environmental controls.
KEPCo's Sharpe Generating Station, located north of Wolf Creek, is available for peaking capacity and continues to be a valuable resource to KEPCo in addition to providing emergency back-up service for the Wolf Creek plant.

As one of four Power Marketing Administrations in the United States,  Southwestern Power Administration (SWPA) markets hydroelectric power in Arkansas, Kansas, Louisiana, Missouri, Oklahoma and Texas from 24 multipurpose dams.  By law, SWPA's power is marketed and delivered primarily to public bodies such as rural electric cooperatives and municipal utilities.

Western Area Power Administration (WAPA) markets and delivers hydroelectric power and related services within a 15-state region of the central and western United States.  WAPA is one of four Power Marketing Administrations in the U.S. Department of Energy that transmits electricity from multi-use water projects.  Their transmission system carries electricity from 57 power plants and has a combined capacity of 10,395 megawatts.

KEPCo is proud of the fact that 50% of its energy resource mix is nuclear and hydroelectric, resources that do not emit any greenhouse gases.
